I thought this would be an appropriate first blog post as I get a load of questions about drugstore products! Of course not all of us want to spend a lot of money on make-up products, especially if you’re just starting out or not really looking to break the bank! Drugstore brands have been killing the game recently so here are my top picks! Part 1 😉
L’oreal True Match Foundation
I HAD to put this foundation first. This is my all time favourite! This literally beats the high-end foundations I own but why? Firstly, the shade range is pretty impressive catering to all different skin tones with different undertones. The finish isn’t too matte nor too dewy, with my experience i’d say its slap bang in the middle giving you a more natural look.
For someone with blemished, scarred skin.. this works wonders to get that covered! The coverage for this foundation is medium to build-able, but even if you have 2 layers of this foundation it still won’t look cakey!
Here’s a few other pointers about this product:
• Blends so beautifully with a beauty sponge
• Does not oxidise
• Retails for £9.99
• Can last for up to 9 hours if you use the right primer
Collection Prime & Ready Illuminating Primer – Warm Apricot
If you’re a dry skin gal looking for an affordable primer this is it! I’m pretty sure this is one of those products that you tend to ignore or give it a second look! This applies like a dream (not silicone based!) melting into your skin and gives your skin a luminous finish.
This is a sheer crème-liquid primer leaving your skin feeling prepped, moisturised, hydrated and better yet, this is ONLY £4.99. This is very comparable to the MAC strobe creams.
Make Up Revolution Conceal And Define Concealers
The concealers that almost broke the internet! How can we not mention this?! Although, you guys have probably heard so much about this product already as it has been all over social media.
What can I say? It’s FULL coverage, easy to blend, has an amazing shade range, very comparable to the famous Tarte Shape Tape.. AND ONLY £4! *Adds 5 more to basket* – I use the shade C5 for highlighting around my face.
• 25 shades
• Well sized applicator
• 3.4 ml of products
Make Up Revolution Blush
You just want a flush of colour on your cheeks but not really looking to spend £25 on a blusher? Yeah, me neither. Make up revolution have these cute lil blushers for £1.. mhmmmmm girl £1! Oh, but be careful when you dip your brush into these because they are PACKED with pigment! You will need a light hand when applying these because they really are pigmented and there is such a beautiful selection of colours to choose from that you honestly cant go wrong with!
Top shade – Sugar | Bottom shade – Love
Make Up Revolution x Soph Eyeshadow Palette
Oh yes, another Make Up Revolution product. You’ll quickly come to learn that this is one of my favourite drugstore brands. Not only that but SophDoesNails is one of my favourite YouTubers so obviously I was super excited about this collab and girl, they did not fail us!
The shade range in this palette is so unique for a drugstore palette yet so use-able! You have your transition shades, your crease colours, your shimmery gold and some STUNNING pops of colours. Now i’m not going to lie, there are other high-end palettes that blend and apply easier than this (palettes that are at the £40-£50 mark -.-) but you’ll only be spending £10 on this palette, £10 that can create so many different looks and allows you to experiment with your make-up.
Models Own Sculpt And Glow Palette
I never really heard anyone talking about this palette before I purchased it almost over a year ago, but I saw it in the models own store in Westfield Stratford (How BEAUTIFUL is it in there?!) and swatched all the different ‘sculpt and glow’ palettes as they have around 4 different palettes with shades that will work with different skin tones! I ended up purchasing the shade medium-tan
The ‘sculpt’ shade on the left is a perfect bronzing shade for my skin tone! It blends so beautifully and feels almost creamy. The highlight in the middle really caught my eye and when I swatched it I was super impressed! It’s a gold champagne highlight that gives you the perfect glow. Finally the blusher is so different to any blusher I own, it’s a stunning coral pink colour with gold flecks in it! Super impressed with the overall quality and shades in this face palette.
